22 Firelands students participated in the 16th annual Lorain Tuba Christmas at the Lorain Palace Theater. The event featured local tuba players that ranged in ability from beginners to professionals with ages ranging from 12 years old to 87. The Firelands community was well represented amongst the 124 tuba player participating in this event.
2011-2012 Mighty Falcon Marching Band
The 2011-2012 Mighty Falcon Marching Band is under the direction of Mr. Dustin K. Wiley. This is Mr. Wiley's second year as director of the Mighty Falcon Marching Band, before coming to Firelands High School Mr. Wiley was director of Instrumental Music at Lorain Admiral King High School for 4 years until its closure in June of 2010. Before coming to Lorain Mr. Wiley served as band director in Tohatchi, New Mexico for 5 years. Mr. Wiley is excited to become a part of the Firelands Community and continue the tradition of excellence that the Firelands program is known for.
This year we have a busy schedule and plans to share our talents in Orlando, Florida in March 2012. The band has already had successful performances at the Ohio State Fair Parade where we received accolades from people across the state of Ohio. The Mighty Falcon Marching Band has already started the year with a bang and we look forward to another fantastic year with even more success!
2011-2012 Mighty Falcon Marching Band Headed to Orlando, Florida
March 22nd, 2012 the Firelands High School Mighty Falcon Marching Band will be traveling to Orlando, Florida to march in the Magic Kingdom. The trip was recently approved by the Firelands Local School Board. The trip will be completely funded through fundraisers and individual contributions to the Firelands Band program. If you would like more information, please join us at our regular booster meetings. We will be discussing basic trip details every month, as well as requirements and payments for the trip. Firelands Band receives Superior Rating
Congratulations to the Firelands Band for receiving a Superior Rating at the Ohio Music Education Association Large Group Adjudicated Event. The Falcons showed their musical excellence, receiving a perfect score in the Performance ratings and a rating of Excellent in Sight Reading. Now let's get ready for State!
2011 Mighty Falcon Alumni Band
Were you a member of the Mighty Falcon Marching Band? Do you want to get involved but don't know how? Now's your chance! We are beginning to plan the 2011 Mighty Falcon Alumni Band and we want you! This is your opportunity to pull out your instrument and play again. Our Alumni performance will be September 30th with a rehearsal September 29th. Private Lessons
Private lessons are essential for students to fine tune their individual playing ability. Symphonic Band rehearsal is not for that purpose. To be successful one must practice regularly at home and take private lessons. Ask any musician.
